Hello, I am severely hard of hearing and have sight in one eye. I have to work extra hard to participate in the Toastmaster meetiings. I have put together a humorous speech for the Toastmasters area speech contest entitled, "How To Survive In A Hard Of Hearing Marriage. " The observational speech is based on my real "hard of hearing' situations in my marriage due to my disability. After each of my three practice speeches the Toastmaster members have been very supportive, and they have suggested many of the ideas outlined in this article. I will be giving this speech about four more times before the actual contest. Thanks for All the positive articles on speaking with humor.

One of the best lessons has to be the Ta Dah effect! Now that you mention it, athletes (especially gymnasts) always have a moment like this. They are being made aware of their achievements and they are not afraid to show the world what they can do. Perhaps, it isn't only the speakers who can pick up a thing or two from gymnasts.
